Our Architect’s Favorite Floor Plan—And Why He Chose It

Selected by Our Architect, For You

Inspired by the charm of bookstore “staff picks,” we’re launching a new series where members of our team highlight their favorite floor plans—and share a glimpse of the personal touches and thoughtful features that to them, make a house a home. This month’s selection comes from Thom, our in-house architect.

When he’s not bringing our clients’ custom designs to life, Thom spends his time finding and restoring antique hand tools and building traditional timber-framed barns—an art form he practices with a nonprofit to support organ donation awareness. His can’t-miss weekend ritual? “Sunday breakfast,” he says. “Whether it’s just a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich or a full brunch menu, the best part is putting on a pot of coffee and some favorite music - usually reggae or Hawaiian slack key guitar - and getting lost in preparing the meal for friends and family.”

For this month’s staff pick, Thom chose the Beach Tide floor plan, which you can explore in full here. With its compact footprint and classic cottage style, it’s a design he describes as “understated, with just enough detail to pique your interest.” The home’s open living spaces connect seamlessly to the outdoors, and the first-floor primary suite adds comfort and convenience. To Thom, it’s a versatile plan that would feel equally at home by the shore or tucked into the woods.

The Beach Tide features:

  • 1,940 Square Feet
  • First Floor Primary Suite
  • Lofted Flex Space
  • 4 Bedrooms
  • 2 1/2 Bathrooms
  • The Perfect Kitchen for Sunday Breakfast
