Awarded the 2020 Excellence in Home Design Award for 2001-3000 square feet, this modern farmhouse was custom designed by KT2 Design Group and built for a young family in Jamestown, R.I. Along the coast of the Narraganset Bay, the open concept floor plan was designed to flow from the pre-existing cottage that had been converted in to a first-floor master bedroom suite designed for aging-in-place. The home is designed for an active lifestyle with an outdoor shower and tile floor along the side entrances to the mudroom and first-floor laundry room. Upstairs has three bedrooms, a full bath with enclosed toilet and built-in shelves, and a large sitting room with homework stations set up for a family.
Awarded the 2020 Excellence in Home Design Award for 3001-4000 square feet, This modern-style, three-story home was designed by Catherine Taylor and includes a rooftop deck with panoramic views of Long Island Sound and is in Fairfield County, Conn. Steps away from Compo Beach and Yacht Club, the home was built to maximize outdoor living space. The open floor plan on the third floor takes full advantage of the waterfront views as the kitchen opens to the dining area and living room. One flight up, a spectacular fiberglass deck allows the homeowners to enjoy every bit of outdoor living.
