This beautiful modular home, owned by Richard Wildermuth of Connecticut Valley Homes, is an example of what custom home plans can mean for you.
CONNECTICUT VALLEY HOMES
Designing Custom Modular Homes to fit your Lifestyle
Southeastern Connecticut is a real
estate hot spot these days, and it
seems new homes are popping up
everywhere. Sure the ranches and split
levels of the 50s and 60s are seeing
their fair share of resale in the area, as
are the contemporaries and raised
ranches of the 70s and 80s. But the reality is there
are hundreds of properties being subdivided and
developed all over the region.
So what are your options in new construction?
Again, they are numerous. And today, so many people
are opting for prefabricated units offered by
modular construction companies because the advantages
of utilizing modular components often far
outweigh traditional site-building – controlled environmental
conditions in the factories, reduction in
construction time, and cost factors are just the
beginning.
It makes sense then to talk to people like
Richard Wildermuth, builder and president of
Connecticut Valley Homes in East Lyme. Since
1981, Wildermuth and Connecticut Valley Homes
have delivered and constructed more than 1,300
modular houses. And while their very first clients
did not have the design options that buyers have
today, they were once the pioneers for a new standard
in home construction.
Now, the limits to what you can have in a modular
home are the ones you set. Yes, you can certainly
choose from the several model styles
Connecticut Valley Homes has to offer, as well as
browse through their extensive collection of welldesigned
floor plans, but they will gladly use your
plans and ideas to design a custom home to fit your
lifestyle.
Just to show us how much Connecticut Valley
Homes has to offer, Mr. Wildermuth invited us to
his home in East Lyme — a modularly constructed
Greek Revival-style farmhouse.
The house is a perfect illustration of what custom
home plans can mean for you. His idea for the
design of the 15-acre parcel was to mimic surrounding
properties and styles, incorporating the area’s
rich history and remaining true to that history.“I wanted to make the house look like it’s been
here for a long time,” said Wildermuth. “To make it
look like it fits. That was my inspiration.”
And the nearly 3,000-square-foot home does
just that. By integrating old fashioned details with
modern conveniences, it is difficult to discern
whether the home is an updated renovation of a
classic or newly constructed – and there’s no way to
believe it arrived on the property in several pieces.
The home’s features, like unpolished granitefireplaces, an open country farmhouse-style kitchen,
bumped out dining room overlooking the property’s
pond, and a three season sunroom connecting the
house to the three-car attached garage, perfectly
link the past to the present. The design elements
inside reflect the traditional simplicity of the outside,
and likewise.
Wildermuth’s creation of his personal space is a
glimpse at what he and Connecticut Valley Homes
can design for you. Bring your ideas — they’ll deliver.
